For example:
- Broccoli contains rich phytochemicals which offer disease preventive properties and are linked with reducing the risk of many types of cancer.
- Red Bell Pepper is a good source of carotenoids and lutein, both which contribute to good eye health. Cartenoids are associated with cornea health, while lutein is believed to prevent retinitis pigmentosa, an inherited eye disease in which peripheral vision is lost.
- Carrots are rich in beta-carotenes and vitamin A, which keeps eyes and skin healthy and has been shown to help delay signs of aging. Studies further suggest there is an association between diets rich in beta-carotene and vitamin A and a lower risk of many types of cancer (National Institute of Health Office of Dietary Supplements).
